About me:
Lena Snow is a fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest (near Baden-Baden). The artist specializes in female portraiture with her main medium being paper. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Mannheim and a teaching degree in Karlsruhe. Lena found artistic expression through her early experiences with personal trauma and pain. These challenges motivated her to transform negative energies into a positive, creative force. Her art became a means of self-liberation and emancipation, a powerful representation of strength and a self-determined path in life. Her works, which have received both national and international recognition, reflect her personal story of overcoming and growth.
Besides years of experience as an educator, Lena is also the founder and curator of the international art platform Goddessarts Magazine. With her expertise in the art world, Lena has also written for the international erotic art magazine Shunga in the Netherlands.
About my artworks and inspiration:
In my paintings I express the essence of a higher, emancipated self that I have achieved despite severe trauma and hardships in life. My works radiate strength, sensuality, and freedom - attributes that I want to make tangible through my artistic expression. My goal is to elevate and transform liberated femininity to a higher level by capturing the mythical primal power and energy in my images and presenting it as a source of empowerment and deep self-connection.
I draw my inspiration from my own life story as well as from the overwhelming beauty of nature and the fascinating female characters from mythology, film, and literature. These influences flow into my art and embody a new, powerful, and emancipated approach to female identity and sexuality. For a long time, images of women were defined exclusively through the male perspective. Now is the time for women to change the narrative and confidently express their elevated femininity.
The central theme of my art is "sublime femininity". My goal is to transform the perception of femininity and elevate it to a higher level of consciousness. Through my art I want to celebrate not only the external beauty, but also the inner strength and complexity of the female being. Each of my works is an invitation to discover the transformative power of femininity and be inspired by its inexhaustible energy.
Notable exhibitions and publications:
Lena has presented her art on major platforms such as Art Karlsruhe in Germany, Art Kaunas in Lithuania, and the Biennale Austria. Her work has been exhibited at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona and the Museo dell'imprenditoria Femminile in Muravera, Italy. She has also received attention in renowned international art and lifestyle magazines such as The Best Address Magazine, the CREATIV Magazine and the Art Market Magazine, and has been given the cover story in several publications. Please find more of her publications in the sections “magazines and publications”.
About my medium:
I only use high quality paper that has been recycled. The paper is sourced regionally and is similar to thick poster or photo paper. Why do I like working on paper so much? My earlier series are on canvases, as I have worked on other topics in previous years, and often incorporated objects into my works. Over time I discovered my love for working on paper because it is much smoother and the painting process of my women feels completely different. It is more sensual and softer and therefore perfectly fits my subjects.
About my painting technique:
I usually plan my series well in advance and always have lots of ideas for new goddesses. I often work with a combination of so-called episcoping (i.e. a sketch or shape is thrown onto the page, similar to a projector), digital sketching that is brought to the paper, and free painting that only emerges during the painting process. With my technique, in contrast to painting on canvas, it is important that the preparatory work and shading must be carried out very precisely so that no “mistakes” happen afterwards. On canvas you can easily correct mistakes or change your motif or even paint over it, but this is not possible with paper. When painting, precision is required.
About my color combinations:
I like to paint with very strong colors, and red tones in particular are my passion. My figures are expressive and luminous and represent a radiant object in the room that gives you energy with color and shape. In many of my series I work with metallic colors, which really look lively and offer a special shimmering 3D effect. When it comes to my coloring, it is always important to me that the figure and the background are harmonious or even complementary. The same also applies to my framing.
Art consultation:
I would be happy to advise you on the design of your living space or business space. This can be done in person, if the location is within reach, or via video call. I also offer consultation on professional framing.
Professional framing:
Some of my artworks are already framed, but they can also be acquired without frames. All of my frames are extremely carefully selected and custom-made. The frames are all made of wood and framed under glass (unless the customer requests otherwise). I do the framing myself in my studio so that everything looks perfect. The picture and especially the frame glass are carefully prepared before framing and cleaned of dust as best as possible. Before framing, I hand-sign the works on the back. Framing not only makes the picture an eye-catcher, but it also protects it.
The viewer is always part of my art:
Due to the slight reflection and depending on the angle, the viewer can see themselves and their surroundings in the work and is therefore always part of the work. My art aims to illustrate that we are always part of something, be it nature, the cosmos or a primal force. Just as my women are part of their surroundings and are one with the surroundings, so is the viewer.
You can stand alone, but you are always part of a whole. The cosmos surrounds us and the strength and power of the image is also part of the viewer and vice versa.
Packaging:
If the picture is to be sent, this is no problem at all. Due to international exhibitions, but also international customers, I specialize in packaging the works extremely carefully and extensively so that they arrive safely. It is always packed in several layers, sturdy cardboard and shipped with a reliable shipping service provider with insurance and tracking code. So far, all shipments have always arrived safely and in perfect condition.
