My Art & Technique – From Inspiration to Finished Artwork

I create contemporary feminine portraits primarily in acrylic on high-quality paper, a medium I prefer for its smooth texture and expressive possibilities. My artistic process combines careful planning, digital sketches, and free painting that emerges during creation. Each series, from the Orion Girls to the Archaic Series, is thoughtfully designed, with attention to composition, color harmony, and emotional presence. I also hand-select and frame each work using custom wooden frames under glass, ensuring that every piece is both visually striking and professionally presented. Through precise technique, vibrant colors, and metallic accents, my paintings become luminous focal points that radiate energy and presence in any space.

Materials and Mediums

I primarily create contemporary feminine portraits in acrylic on high-quality, museum-grade paper. Paper offers a smooth surface that enhances the sensuality and expressiveness of my figures. I often incorporate vibrant reds, luminous colors, and metallic tones to give my paintings depth and a subtle 3D shimmer. Color harmony between figure and background is always carefully considered to create a balanced and visually striking composition.

Creative Process

My artistic process combines precise planning with moments of spontaneous creation. I begin with sketches, sometimes using digital tools or episcoping - a method of projecting preliminary shapes onto the paper. From there, free painting guides the development of the final work. Unlike canvas, paper requires meticulous technique, as mistakes cannot be easily corrected. This precision ensures that each brushstroke contributes to the intended expression and emotional impact of the piece.

Series Planning and Concept Development

Each series, from the Orion Girls to the Archaic Series and Nymphs, is thoughtfully conceived in advance. I explore themes such as cosmic energy, liberated femininity, mythic symbolism, and spiritual or ancestral power. Planning ensures continuity within a series while leaving room for creative experimentation. I continually generate ideas for new goddesses, each with their own energy, character, and narrative.

Precision on Paper vs Canvas

Working on paper is an intimate and exacting process. Unlike canvas, corrections are limited, so shading, layering, and composition must be executed with care from the start. This challenge heightens the expressiveness and clarity of each figure, making the artwork feel precise, luminous, and emotionally resonant.

Framing

Professional framing:

Some of my artworks are already framed, but they can also be acquired without frames. All of my frames are extremely carefully selected and custom-made. The frames are all made of wood and framed under glass (unless the customer requests otherwise). I do the framing myself in my studio so that everything looks perfect. The picture and especially the frame glass are carefully prepared before framing and cleaned of dust as best as possible. Before framing, I hand-sign the works on the back. Framing not only makes the picture an eye-catcher, but it also protects it.

The viewer is always part of my art:

Due to the slight reflection and depending on the angle, the viewer can see themselves and their surroundings in the work and is therefore always part of the work. My art aims to illustrate that we are always part of something, be it nature, the cosmos or a primal force. Just as my women are part of their surroundings and are one with the surroundings, so is the viewer.

You can stand alone, but you are always part of a whole. The cosmos surrounds us and the strength and power of the image is also part of the viewer and vice versa.
