Meet Callianassa, a sea nymph who emerges from my Nymph series—a collection inspired by the natural world and the mythical spirits that inhabit it. Callianassa embodies the quiet strength and allure of the sea. She’s named after a figure in Greek mythology, a nymph who moves with the waves and embodies the spirit of the tides. This painting captures her at that magical moment between water and sky, reflecting both the warmth of the setting sun and the cool mystery of the depths below. Creating this piece, I was inspired by the endless, hypnotic pull of the ocean—a place that’s simultaneously calm and wild. I wanted to capture that feeling of freedom, that sense of stepping into the unknown but feeling at home. Callianassa invites you to pause, take a breath, and reconnect with the elements around you.
