"I am from Neptune" was inspired by Betty Draper, the enigmatic housewife from Mad Men. What struck me about her character was the quiet tension she carries—often found sitting, waiting, posed perfectly on a staircase, suspended between performance and paralysis. Betty is a woman built for a role, not a life, and that dissonance becomes the source of her silent unraveling.

This work is about waiting—not the kind filled with hope, but the kind imposed by convention, expectation, and internalized restraint. The staircase becomes a symbol: neither here nor there, a space where time stretches and identity stalls.

In this figure from Neptune, I wanted to reflect that distant melancholy—an alien elegance, dressed in the aesthetic of a planet far removed. But the underlying message is earthly and urgent: women should not have to wait to unfold their potential. Waiting is a kind of forgetting. And there is no staircase long enough to hold back what was always meant to rise.
